Elizabethtown, IN – Community Park
In an effort to provide a better environment for the 100 children of Elizabethtown Indiana, where the odds of 1 in 6 children will graduate from High School, the local officials have developed a Children’s Library and they have Built a Kaboom Playground!
The fund raising for the playground started with a goal to raise a $1000.00. Six months later they still had not made their goal.
The local Snider Recreation Representative talked to the Town Counsel about Burke play structures. She worked with them on fundraising ideas and suggestions for the playground location and designs. The community did the DREAMING, The Burke Design Department created the DESIGN, and Snider Recreation made sure to DELIVER!
The town held a fundraising dinner, and brought in speakers and the Burke representative to tell about the playground and the possible Kaboom Grant opportunity in October 2013. Through the amazing effort of a few people, the Town Counsel applied for and received, a grant from Kaboom in February of 2014. That is when it all became real, to get the Grant they had to match the Grant funds. They had to provide for the surfacing and development of the park, since the location for the new playground was just an empty lot.
Elizabethtown made their goal, the funds from the Kaboom Grant were matched! By May 2014 the equipment arrived and everything was installed.
