Walnut Beach

Ahoy, mateys! Have you seen the new pirate ship playground that landed at Walnut Beach? The city of Ashtabula and Snider Recreation worked to design this new, themed play area right on the beach. The play equipment, which is designed like a pirate ship, includes swings for adults and children, slides, equipment to dig in the sand and much more. Ashtabula’s city flag flies proudly atop the masts, instead of the Jolly Roger pirate flag.

Ashtabula was able to take advantage of an Ohio Nature Works playground grant to pay for the play equipment, leaving the city with less than 25% of the playground equipment cost. The installation was completed with a team of city workers, volunteers and representatives from Snider Recreation. This supervised installation allowed the city to purchase more play equipment for their fun-loving residents to enjoy.
